Our Grand Chambord Dining set is named after The Château de Chambord, which is one of the most recognisable châteaux in the world because of its very distinctive French Renaissance architecture that blends traditional French medieval forms with classical Renaissance structures. Chambord is the symbol of the power of King François I, who transformed this ancient hunting ground into one of the largest and the most beautiful châteaux anywhere. Built in Renaissance style, the internal layout is an early example of the French and Italian style of grouping rooms into self-contained suites, a departure from the medieval style of corridor rooms. The original design of the Château de Chambord is attributed to Italian architect Domenico da Cortona; Leonardo da Vinci may also have been involved or influenced the design.
